After all the fuss about the L.A Clippers owner, Donald Sterling, and his controversial racist rant, it appears that his career with the NBA is officially OVER!

NBA Commissioner, Adam Silver announced in a letter to  fans this afternoon that Sterling will be banned from the NBA for life and is also fined with $2.5 million. In the letter Silver says,

“Mr.Sterling may not attended any NBA games or practices, be present at any Clippers office or facility, or participate in any business or player personnel decisions involving the team,”

Silver also made it really clear that he will be pressuring the NBA Board of Governors immediately to force a sale on the L.A Clippers Basketball team.  In his announcement he said,

” We will not allow one individual’s intolerant views to define us. Let me be clear: Mr. Sterling’s views have no place in the NBA.”

According to Silver’s announcement  the $2.5 million fine money will be donated to a,

“charitable organizations dedicated to anti-discrimination and tolerance efforts that will be jointly selected by the NBA and its Players Association.”

The NBA ruling towards Sterling came just days after the former L.A Clippers owner was caught on tape making racist rants about African Americans and racial minorities.

Following the NBA’s ruling today the Clippers, in a team statement announced,

“We wholeheartedly support and embrace the decision by the NBA and Commissioner Adam Silver today. Now the healing process begins.”
